Please see below for the current homework overviews for each class.
Homework is given to each child on a Friday and is expected to be completed by the following Friday. The amount of work set each week will vary from year group to year group according to the children's age, but there is a general expectation that all of our children should be reading at home every night.
In Year 3, a new set of spellings are given on a weekly basis and tested the following week in school.
The children also have specific times tables to learn which are set every week.
Handwriting sheets are sent out every 2 or 3 weeks and some children may also receive an additional reading book from Mrs. Sharp.
AWAITING INFORMATION FROM CLASS TEACHER
In Year 5, the children have 10 new spellings to learn each week which they will be tested on the following week.
They also work on IXL: Maths, which involves revising a concept learnt in class and sometimes an optional additional task should the child wish to extend their learning further, and English where they are expected to revise key punctuation and grammar concepts.
In Year 6, the children have 10 spellings to learn every week. Each Friday, they do some learning around specific spelling patterns and then have a week to learn their words. These spelling patterns and structures have been taken from the Year 6 curriculum.
The children also work on IXL which includes focused work on times tables and activities directly linked to the current unit of work being studied in class.
Specific chapters of reading from their book group book are set fortnightly.
